Health plan collaborates for caregivers of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and behavioral health challenges.
(DAYTON, OH – April 11, 2022) – CareSource, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan, announced today a new option with the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDDS) and I Am Boundless to provide respite care for parents and other caregivers of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and behavioral health challenges.
“CareSource knows families and caregivers need breathing room so they can come back refreshed and recharged,” said Steve Ringel, CareSource Ohio Market President. “We are happy to bridge the gap in care for those caring for people with an I/DD diagnosis in Montgomery County.”
Respite care offers short-term child care services that offer temporary relief, improve family stability and reduce need for out-of-home placements.
"We know how indispensable respite services are for the families we serve, and look forward to partnering with CareSource and the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities to help meet that need," said Deborah Randall, Boundless regional director.
This new collaboration will provide a much needed respite service to those families with I/DD youth. Services such as after-school and day programming, and therapeutic supports will be embedded in each respite opportunity.
“We’re thankful to CareSource and Boundless for creating this important new option for respite care for families of children with I/DD in our county, and know it will be both appreciated and valued,” said Dr. Pamela Combs, superintendent, Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
