(CLEVELAND, OH – November 17, 2021) – CareSource, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan, announced today it has directed $900,000 towards Cleveland Clinic’s Emergency Services Institute. The funds will be used to support the implementation of a pilot program that brings emergency medicine physicians directly to patients, regardless of their location, for acute unscheduled care.
“Cleveland Clinic’s Emergency Services Institute provides outstanding care for their patients,” said Steve Ringel, CareSource Ohio Market President. “CareSource is proud to support their ongoing innovation in improving health outcomes.”
Cleveland Clinic’s Emergency Services Institute approaches the delivery of emergency medicine in novel ways beyond the acute care that they're rendering in the emergency department. Technology, virtual visits and new payment paradigms to manage patients at home have become increasingly important during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Expanding our emergency medicine services to include virtual capabilities is one way we are expanding our patients’ access to care and ensuring they get the most appropriate care in times of an emergency”, says B. Bryan Graham, DO, Cleveland Clinic Virtual Emergency Medicine Program Medical Director. “These funds will support this important initiative and help us improve both outcomes and access.”
