Integrated Services for Behavioral Health to use funds to keep children’s behavioral health care in Ohio.
(DAYTON, OH – February 8, 2021) – CareSource, a nonprofit multi-state managed care plan, announced today their support for children with complex behavioral health and multi-system needs in Ohio’s Appalachian counties. The support comes in the form of a $1 million gift to Integrated Services for Behavioral Health (ISBH), a comprehensive community-based behavioral health provider serving the region.
“We are committed to identifying and nurturing strong community-based services to keep our children in their communities,” said Steve Ringel, CareSource Ohio Market President. “Through our collaboration with Integrated Services for Behavioral Health, we have been able to become more acutely aware of not only the resource gap in Ohio’s Appalachian counties but the incredible efforts of local organizations. With this support for our providers and our behavioral health workforce, we continue to demonstrate our mission of keeping families healthy, safe and unified.”
Integrated Services for Behavioral Health will distribute the funding to prevent multisystem youth out of state placements using a high-fidelity wrap-around model of care and mobile crisis and discharge response.
“CareSource’s donation will be used to help prevent multisystem youth from being placed out of region, out of state, and far away from home,” said Kevin Gillespie, ISBH executive director. “Their support allows us to move more quickly with communities in building local systems-of-care throughout the Appalachian Ohio region.”
ISBH chief operating officer Sam Shafer agrees.
“Working directly with children’s services and with parents, we will bring children back to their home communities sooner than later,” said Shafer. “Additionally, a portion of the CareSource donation will be used to complete the Mary Hill Center for Youth, a treatment facility to be located in Nelsonville, Ohio.”
