New Marketplace plan is designed for members with the chronic condition.
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN — October 30, 2023) CareSource, a nationally recognized managed care entity, announced new Marketplace plans specifically designed for members with diabetes. Through these plans, members have an easier time managing their diabetes through preferred coverage of specific medications, supplies and treatment plans.
According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly 12% of Indiana adults have diagnosed diabetes, and one-third of the state population have conditions that could lead to a diabetes diagnosis. The goal for the new diabetes plans is to address particular needs that fit these members’ lifestyles, including coverage for insulin, eye and kidney screenings, physical therapy and foot care.
“Some people with chronic conditions benefit from having a personalized insurance plan that covers a member’s distinct needs,” said Dr. Cameual Wright, market chief medical officer of CareSource Indiana. “Diabetes has many specific medications and treatment plans that are critical to follow. With this updated plan, we can make sure our members have the support they need to make navigating the condition as easy as possible.”
For members who could be at risk in developing diabetes, CareSource also offers support programs for lifestyle adjustments. A diabetes prevention program can help with increasing physical activity and long-term dietary changes for those at risk of developing diabetes.
“Treating diabetes can be a major lifestyle change. We hope that this new plan will help members navigate their care and make these adjustments manageable,” said Dr. Wright.
The new plan adds to CareSource’s nearly decade long experience in Marketplace, serving over 200,000 members in over six states. This adds to its comprehensive support in other areas, including access to Teladoc Telehealth and Counseling and preventative care and screenings at no additional cost.
