CareSource Gives $2M for Innovation at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center

Funding provides support to back safety, quality and community programs.
(Columbus, OH – July 28, 2021) – CareSource, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan, announced a gift of $2M to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center to provide financial and administrative support to back safety, quality, and community programs.
“CareSource is in a unique position to support The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center,” said Steve Ringel, CareSource Ohio Market President. “Our members and anyone who receives care at their locations will benefit greatly from the innovative programs this funding supports.”
The $2M will be spread out throughout the system to support key initiatives including hospital-acquired infection rate reduction, complex care management, addiction medicine and care integration. Technology such as an electronic monitoring system to increase hand hygiene compliance and remote home monitoring and telehealth access to provide home-based care for diabetes patients are key examples of innovation supported by the funds.

We’re creating a healthcare delivery platform to better serve our patients in their communities and their homes, and support from health plans like CareSource and our community partners are foundational,” said Dr. Iahn Gonsenhauser, chief quality and patient safety officer at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.
