This summer CareSource hosted 32 interns throughout the organization. Each of the interns participated in an 11-week immersive learning and experiential journey that included department specific projects, weekly mentoring, job shadowing, one-on-one time with managers and personal development learning.
“Spending this summer as an intern for CareSource was an irreplaceable experience,” shared Haley Huelsman from the University of Dayton. “I feel confident I brought value to my team of professionals, who also shared their knowledge with me openly. Every project I worked on was part of something bigger but just as crucial to the process, which was motivating and exciting to witness. Not only were the coworkers with whom I worked fantastic, but the talent acquisition team regularly checked in to continue building our relationship.”
At the beginning of their internship, interns were assigned a dedicated project, “Generation Z,” to assess CareSource’s ability to attract, engage and cultivate a multigenerational workforce. Each group presented their projects to Erhardt Preitauer, President and CEO and Jennifer Dougherty, Senior Vice President, Human Resources to wrap up their internship.
At the conclusion of their experience, the interns volunteered with Homefull, an organization that provides food, housing and jobs to those in need within the Dayton community. The group traveled to Homefull’s urban farm in downtown Dayton to plant and harvest freshly grown produce for Homefull’s mobile grocery store.
