The College Park Skyhawks and CareSource, proud partner and mission-driven Medicaid plan serving more than 500,000 Georgians, held the Skyhawks’ annual Education Day game, presented by CareSource at the Gateway Center Arena. The Skyhawks beat the Greensboro Swarm in the early contest, 120-117.
The Skyhawks and CareSource hosted students and staff from local schools, with CareSource donating 250 tickets to students and faculty of Atlanta Public Schools. Attendees received a themed workbook for the game, as well as thunder sticks donning the Skyhawks and CareSource logos.
“The annual Education Day game is something we look forward to every year,” said Atlanta Hawks Vice President of NBA G League and 2K League Operations Janice Koon. “With the help of CareSource, we are excited to bring the fun of great basketball and unique learning opportunities to local students.”
CareSource sponsored in-game elements, including a skills challenge at halftime where school administrators will compete for a donation to their school’s mental and physical wellness resources from CareSource and the Skyhawks.
"We were happy to engaging with students, faculty, and families from Atlanta Public Schools,” said CareSource Georgia Market President Jason Bearden. “Education plays a vital role in informing important health decisions, and we are proud to sponsor Education Day with the Skyhawks.”
The Education Day game was the second Skyhawks event presented by CareSource, after the ‘Back to Basketball’ event held in the lead up to the 2022-23 season at Welcome All Park in College Park in October. More than 75 local youth participated in a fan-fest that included skills education, mobile gaming stations, and wellness checks.
