Walmart, CareSource and more than 12 community-based organizations teamed up this past weekend for our first Ohio Share Days. “Let’s Level Up Together: Life and Career Skills Event” took place at the Miller Lane Walmart in Dayton on Saturday and Sunday. Over 600 people attended the two-day experiential in-store event that featured inspiring brands, community partners and fun activities to support our member’s wellness and life journey.
For more than 30 years, CareSource has been recognized as a leader in the industry for going above and beyond with their approach to member-centric health care. CareSource's retail strategy follows that same path by bringing innovative programs and services to our members through unique ideas developed with strategic retail partnerships.
During the SHARE Day experience, booths and tables were set up to offer general health and wellness educational information such as healthy eating, stress management and job skills. Among the community-based organizations that took part included: Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project, Miami Valley Child Development Centers, NAMI Montgomery County Ohio, Dayton Foodbank, Premier Mobile Health, Goodwill, Clothes That Work, Diabetes Dayton, Miami Valley Career Technology Center and the African American Male Wellness Agency.
“CareSource is building partnerships with companies that are aligned on a shared mission and vision to advance health equity and reduce disparities,” said CareSource President and CEO Erhardt Preitauer. “Walmart and CareSource have intersected on a common goal – to improve both social determinant and clinical outcomes through scalable solutions. By partnering with brands that are trusted by our members, we can meet members where they are to better meet their health care needs.”
Earlier this year, Walmart and CareSource entered into an agreement to leverage Walmart’s position as a national retailer and provider of health and wellness services, and CareSource’s role in the delivery of Medicaid, Medicare and other health plan benefits and services. The agreement will cultivate innovative, evidence-based solutions to improve health outcomes in under-resourced and underserved communities where health inequities are widespread.
“We were thrilled with the terrific response we saw from our community throughout the two-day event that featured inspiring brands, a dozen local community-based organization partners, and engaging activities to support community members’ life and wellness journeys,” said Jesse Reed, Director of CareSource Life Services. “Walmart and CareSource were proud to team up to support our members to level up their health and wellness by providing impactful information, resources, and materials to our members.”
