KOKOMO, Ind. (CARESOURCE) — On May 30, Howard County welcomed its first “Foster Closet” when Foster the Need, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting foster and kinship families, celebrated the grand opening of its new Bravely Me Boutique. The boutique is financially supported by CareSource of Indiana, a nationally recognized nonprofit managed care entity. Dr. Cameual Wright, Chief Medical Officer of CareSource Indiana, attended the event and emphasized the alignment between the boutique’s mission and CareSource’s goals of providing community-centered care to address social determinants of health.

“Foster the Need and CareSource share the same goal of helping members of our community live their healthiest lives possible,” said Dr Wright. “Children in foster care face many challenges and the ability to shop for their own clothes and other items in a fun, welcoming environment helps to restore their dignity and self-esteem. The items at the Bravely Me Boutique not only provide much needed items for foster families, but also facilitates comfort, healing and improved mental health. The collaboration between CareSource of Indiana and Foster the Need demonstrates our collective commitment to making a positive impact on the health and well-being of Hoosier children.”

“This ribbon cutting marks the next step in helping foster and kinship families by offering an unforgettable experience for the children as they get to pick out brand-new outfits and make choices of their own,” said Laura Martin, executive director of Foster the Need. “We’re so grateful to CareSource for their support.”
