CareSource Supports Children’s Mental Health Acceptance
May 3rd, 2022 | 2 min read
In recognition of children’s mental health acceptance, CareSource is partnering with the National Federation of Families (NFOF) to help eliminate the bias and discrimination that individuals with a mental illness diagnosis or symptoms experience. CareSource is sponsoring the NFOF's green ribbon campaign which raises awareness of children's mental health acceptance. The children’s mental health community chose green to signify new life, new growth and new beginnings.
“CareSource has the unique opportunity to join organizations across the country to expand the general public’s understanding of children’s mental health needs and the impact on families,” said Josh Boynton, Senior Vice President of Complex Health Solutions at CareSource. “Additionally, we can effectively serve this vulnerable population with a solution that can be used nationwide, but also addresses the specific needs of each state.”
Last year, more than 200,000 of CareSource’s youth members had an identified behavioral health diagnosis. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), youth and young adults experienced a unique set of challenges during the pandemic including isolation from peers, adapting to virtual learning and changes to sleep habits and other routines.
CareSource is committed to deep engagement with children and their families to understand and address their needs. The organization not only examines their needs and services to solve problems, but also considers the unique capabilities within individuals and their networks to enable them to live healthy lives in the community.
