On 9/11, CareSource joined more than 400 companies to participate in a meal-packing event in observance of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, which has become the largest annual day of charitable service in the nation. This day encourages individuals and organizations to join and lead community service projects to honor the lives and service of those lost on September 11.

The meal-packing event in Atlanta is part of a larger nationwide effort across 20 cities to pack 8 million healthy, non-perishable meals for people facing food insecurity in America. More than 15 CareSource Georgia team members participated in a two-hour shift at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Over 500,000 meals were packed and donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank in honor of September being Hunger Action Month.

“Food insecurity impacts the health and well-being of our community members and is associated with an increased risk of chronic conditions,” said Jason Bearden, market president, CareSource Georgia. “The CareSource team was honored to take part in the Atlanta Meal Pack event and join local organizations to support putting healthy food on the tables of Georgia families. It was also special to take part in this day of service and remembrance to pay tribute to 9/11 victims, survivors, first responders and members of our military.”
