It’s important to highlight the vital role HBCUs play in Georgia. The state has 10 HBCUs that enroll more than 20,000 Black students each year and award 23% of all bachelor’s degrees earned by Black students. HBCUs in Georgia also contribute an estimated $1.3 billion in economic impact annually across the state.
HBCUs deliver innovation and workforce, economic and social development for all Georgians. By addressing social determinants of health through opportunity and economic mobility, HBCUs contribute to a healthier and more equitable state. HBCUs also support our communities with local healthcare jobs and a talented, diverse workforce.
