ATLANTA (CARESOURCE) - Each year, CareSource honors local community-focused organizations that strive to improve the health and well-being of the communities they serve and make a demonstrated impact in the lives of CareSource members. This year, 13 organizations from across the state of Georgia were recognized for the impactful programs and services they provided ranging from behavioral health support to fighting food insecurity.
“CareSource is proud to honor this year’s diverse class of Heart of the Community Award recipients and highlight the impact they have made in the communities they serve,” said Taura White, associate vice president, Population Health at CareSource. “It is important to support the work of community-focused organizations that have established trust within their communities and are making strides in addressing social determinants of health and impacting overall health outcomes in Georgia. We look forward to continuing our partnerships with these organizations and working together to improve the health and well-being of Georgians.”
The CareSource Georgia team visited each of the 13 organizations across the state to present them with the Heart of the Community Award and show appreciation for the work they are doing.
Each of the 13 award recipients also received a monetary donation to further the organization’s services, expand their programs and support the members of their staff.
Two of the organizations honored with the Heart of the Community Award were Kids’ Doc on Wheels and Eastchester Family Services. Both organizations are a partner with CareSource Wellness on Wheels™, a program that has made a significant impact in addressing access to care gaps across the state by meeting members where they live.
“The CareSource Wellness on Wheels program would not have achieved the successes it has without the support and amazing work of providers like Kids’ Doc on Wheels and Eastchester Family Services,” said Dr. Seema Csukas, vice president market chief medical officer at CareSource Georgia. “With the support of these two organizations, the Wellness on Wheels program has been able to serve more than 500 children in Georgia over the last 18 months, and these organizations have been instrumental in closing gaps in access to care. We were honored to recognize these organizations and their amazing team members for their incredible work in the community.”
Another award recipient was faith-based organization, The dReam Center Church of Atlanta. The CareSource Wellness on Wheels program partnered with their Groceries on Us outreach program to bring health services to youth at the church and as a result over 100 youth received well visits and health screenings.
