CareSource Further Strengthens Disability Inclusion Initiatives

DAYTON, Ohio (CARESOURCE) - CareSource today announced a new initiative aimed at strengthening disability inclusion in its workforce. The company has established a National Disability Inclusion Advisory Board (NDIAB) dedicated to supporting the Disability, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Action Committee focused on creating a more inclusive environment for employees with disabilities.
Launched earlier this year, the NDIAB guides and supports CareSource's disability inclusion efforts thanks to input from external leaders and advocates who will provide feedback on the company’s existing policies and practices. The board's role includes mentoring CareSource’s internal DEI Action Committee and sharing best practices and emerging trends in disability inclusion to inform CareSource’s approach.
"Our new disability inclusion strategy enables us to embrace and implement the latest ideas, positively impacting both current and future talent,” said Josh Boynton, SVP, specialty companies and complex health solutions for CareSource. “With guidance from CareSource’s National Disability Inclusion Advisory Board, we will create and foster best practices that will benefit the company and serve as a model for our industry. These efforts are a testament to 'practicing what we preach,' as we believe in the power of community and the importance of ensuring all voices are heard."
Formed through a partnership with The Harkin Institute for Public Policy and Citizen Engagement, the DEI Action Committee was initiated in 2023 and focuses specifically on disability inclusion. The employee-led committee operates through 10 workstreams, each dedicated to areas such as culture and leadership, accommodations, recruitment and hiring, and community engagement.
CareSource’s commitment to an inclusive workplace is reflected in its internal survey data. According to the latest survey, 90% of employees with disabilities feel welcomed when they join the company and 87% take pride in working there. These statistics highlight the company’s efforts to foster a supportive environment and its progress in advancing diversity initiatives.
In line with its strategic goals, CareSource plans to expand its DEI initiatives. A new webpage dedicated to disability inclusion recently launched on the company’s careers site, featuring leadership commitments and ongoing efforts.
CareSource's partnership with The Harkin Institute for Public Policy and Citizen Engagement and the formation of the NDIAB and DEI Action Committee underscore the company’s commitment to promoting disability inclusion as a positive and natural part of the employment experience and to becoming a model employer for people with disabilities. These initiatives are part of CareSource’s broader strategy to promote a culture of inclusivity and to serve as a leader in disability inclusion within the health care industry.
