Healthier Moms and Babies launched The Hopper, a mobile outreach vehicle designed to provide resources and education to families in Northeast Indiana. The Hopper will travel the community and provide families with baby supplies, such as diapers, and connect them with programming opportunities. The overall goal of the outreach is to reduce infant mortality rates and improve pregnancy outcomes for Hoosiers.
“At Healthier Moms and Babies, we care about being the right resource, for the right person, at the right time,” said Paige Wilkins, executive director of Healthier Moms and Babies. “Because of The Hopper, we will be able to deepen our impact in our community, and meet families where they are physically, to serve them mentally and emotionally.”
The Hopper is made possible thanks to the generous support of the CareSource Foundation and Dar Richardson.
"As a managed care entity, we are happy to support the work that Healthier Moms and Babies is doing in Fort Wayne and the rest of Allen County,” said Dave Rose, associate vice president of external strategy at CareSource. “This is an outstanding example of an organization dedicated to serving its community. I'm excited to celebrate the unveiling of this mobile outreach unit. I'm proud CareSource supports these efforts and I hope you'll join me in continuing to ensure a better future for moms, babies and families."
The Hopper mobile outreach vehicle will serve all Allen County families in need, with the hope to grow into serving all of Northeast Indiana. Families must sign up on the Healthier Moms and Babies website in advance to visit The Hopper. For more information, please visit HealthierMomsAndBabies.org.
