At an exciting luncheon at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center this week, CareSource honored local organizations that have made a true impact on their communities with the inaugural CareSource Heart of the Community Award. Ten Georgia organizations were recognized for being at the forefront of providing access to impactful community programs and services for CareSource members and the community at large.
“We are thrilled to honor our most engaged partners in Georgia,” said Taura White, senior director, Population Health at CareSource. “We’re pleased to celebrate these meaningful programs and our ongoing relationships with our community collaborators.”
One of the many organizations honored with the CareSource Heart of Community Award was the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, which currently supports more than 5,000 CareSource families per year. Through CareSource, YMCA of Metro Atlanta memberships are subsidized, and families have access to Y programming, including hunger relief, adult and youth sports, camps and more.
“CareSource provides innovative health and life services to all, and we’re honored to be recognized for programs that strengthen communities and improve the health and well-being of metro Atlantans,” said Lauren Koontz, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. “Our goal is to ensure every individual has access to essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.”
A full list of organizations who received the CareSource Heart of the Community Award, as well as a $1,000 honorarium, includes Children’s Museum of Atlanta, Reach Out and Read Georgia, YMCA of Metro Atlanta, YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Center for Black Women’s Wellness, Fathers Matter ATL, NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness Georgia, Global Partnership for Telehealth, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, and Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia.
