Erhardt Preitauer, President & CEO

Erhardt Preitauer is the president and CEO of CareSource. He leads a mission-driven team dedicated to transforming health care for those served by Medicaid, the Health Insurance Marketplace, and Medicare. They are united in their efforts to deliver superior health outcomes, operational excellence, and innovation to maximize their opportunity to reinvest profits into members, communities, providers, and employees.

Erhardt joined CareSource as president and CEO in 2018 and brings more than 20 years of executive leadership in government sponsored health care and a passion for the CareSource mission to deliver on its transformation promise. To achieve this, Erhardt and the team balance the mission with strong fundamentals and steady growth.

Under his direction, the company expanded its footprint in Indiana and Ohio, entered new markets in Arkansas and North Carolina, and entered and expanded its footprint in Michigan. CareSource also entered Mississippi as part of a strategic alliance with Mississippi True, acquired The Columbus Organization, and entered into agreements to bring two Wisconsin plans – Common Ground Health Care Cooperative and Community Care, Inc. – into its family of plans, once approved. 

Deeply committed to the community and the industry, Erhardt serves on the boards of the Dayton Development Coalition, Easterseals National, and America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). He graduated from the University of Nevada with a Bachelor of Science in finance and economics, and has an M.B.A from Penn State University.
