Quick Start Steps for New Members

Make the most of your plan with these tips to get started.

Step 1—Your ID Cards. Put your CareSource ID card in your wallet. Use it each time you use your health care benefits.

Step 2—Learn About Your Benefits. Review your member handbook for detailed information on your health plan and benefits. Review the Benefits-at-a-Glance for a quick list of covered benefits and services. Plus, learn about the extra benefits from us. 

Step 3—Make sure your providers are in network. Use the Find a Doctor/Provider search tool to find:

  • Your primary medical provider (PMP)
  • Any specialists you expect to see
  • Your hospital
  • Make sure the health care providers you plan to use are in our network. In most cases, CareSource does not pay for charges from providers that are not part of our network.

Step 4—Keep your current treatments and care. If you are being treated for a health issue, call us. We can help you keep your care.

Step 5 — Make Sure Your Prescriptions are on the CareSource Drug List. Use  Find My Prescriptions tools to see what drugs and supplies are covered.

Step 6—Set Up a My CareSource® account.  Visit My CareSource® and set up your personal online account. You will need your member ID number from your ID card. You’ll also need to enter a secure password.

Step 7—Get the CareSource Mobile App. Download the free CareSource mobile app through Google Play® or iTunes®. It will keep you connected to your benefits on the go. 

Step 8—Fill out your Health Needs Screening (HNS). Earn a $30 gift card by taking your HNS during your first 90 days with CareSource. Learn more about the HNS.

Step 9—Get Rewarded. Visit the rewards page to see how you can earn rewards while getting healthy.

Time for a Checkup?

Has it been more than a year since you have had a checkup with your PMP? Do you want to choose  a new PMP? You should schedule a checkup – even if you are not sick. Children may need well-visit checkups more often depending on their age. Checkups It lets your doctor assess how to help you get and stay healthy . They can also tell you what kind of preventive care you need.
