Expired or unused drugs can be a health risk for toddlers, teens, and family pets. They can also be misused. About 50,000 children visit the emergency room each year from taking medications that were within their reach. Studies show that more than 70% of people who misuse prescription drugs get them from friends or family. Over 30,000 overdose deaths each year are due to prescription drugs.
